WindCutter II Spey
Founded by Spey-maniac Jim Vincent in 1990, the Idaho Falls RIO factory is considered by many to be Spey central. The company has so many combinations of Spey heads, tips, and lines that it’s hard to put a tally in print. Expert two-handed casters with a specific style of casting appreciate the differences between RIO’s Skagit, PowerSpey, and AFS lines—the rest of us use the versatile, easy-to-cast Windcutter II Spey that comes in sizes from 4/5 up to 10/11/12. The three smallest sizes are favorites for switch rods and smaller water where you don’t need to boom out 100-foot casts.
