WindCutter II
RIO’s WindCutter II balances your windy Western river distance needs with your desire for delicate presentations. In order to achieve this, the lines have a long-carrying 40' head and a heavier belly of approximately 18' to fully load the butt section of today’s faster rods, and to push the line through blustery conditions. But to defeat the heavy crash-landing associated with many wind lines, the WindCutter II has a multi-transitional tip, which goes from slight taper to a short level section before stepping down another 5' in the front taper. “The 6-weight,” said our tester, “is a unique blend that you can think of as line with a 7-weight belly and a 5-weight tip. This hodgepodge makes for an easy-casting line, regardless of wind, and you can still lay flies down quietly.” They are available in 3- through 8-weights in DualTone gray/yellow.
