Cortland’s PE+ Crystal lines are clear floating or intermediate polyethylene saltwater lines that load quickly and, due to their front-loaded design (31' back taper and 7' body leading into a sharp, 3' front taper) shoot like rockets. “The 8-weight floater, tested for Turneffe flats bonefish, is ideal for flats-skiff fishing or wading for bonefish, permit, or tarpon,” our tester said. “If the clear line has one drawback, it’s that it can be difficult to see, and some casters (like me) may have trouble determining where the fly is in the water and when to strike a fish. I have corrected the problem by adding an inch or two of red tying thread as a marker around the line 10' from the front end.
