L.L. Bean’s new pre-studded, rubber-sole Gray Ghosts were designed to combat aquatic nuisances from bottom to top. Coated, nonporous upper materials resist debris for easy self-cleaning. The laces are quick drying, and the smooth-finished metal hardware fights articulate buildup. They also come with a cleaning brush. Our tester said, “The rubber sole is surprisingly sticky on just about any rocky surface, with one caveat: You do not want to get caught with only an edge touching rock. The rugged, rubberized exterior should last many seasons, while the boot is surprisingly lightweight given its bulk. (It helps that the soles can’t soak up a pound of water each.)” www.llbean.com
