Gabriel’s Trumpet
When you trim the hackle tip after wrapping the collar, simply hold the tip under moderate tension, and saw the stem with the edge of one scissor blade. This cuts the stem but prevents you from accidentally trimming any hackle fibers from the collar.
To tie a pink Gabriel’s Trumpet, substitute white or cream-colored materials for the tail and hackle. The thread, flash, and ostrich herl thorax are pink. In the black version the hook, weight, and wingcase are the same as for the original gold version. The bead, thread, tails, abdomen, ostrich herl thorax, and hackle are all black. Use copper or Hot Yellow Ultra Wire for the rib.
