Andre Scholz is one of Europe’s best-known casting instructors, specializing in overhead and Spey techniques for two-handed rods. He’s been working with Winston for several years, first to design Boron IIx two-handed rods and most recently Winston’s Boron II-MX switch rods. The new 6/7- and 7/8-weight rods are 11'6" and 12'3" respectively and while our tester says they have more “oomph!” for lifting multi-tip lines with heavier heads, or punching overhead casts across the Deschutes, they are closer to true Spey rods than Switch rods and may be a little much for casting with one hand. www.winstonrods.com
