Avid Trout
Our tester put the new Avid Trout weight-forward floating line to work on the Railroad Ranch section of the Henry’s Fork, fishing to midmorning rising trout feeding on spent Callibaetis spinners. Despite the line’s economy price tag, the line beat the breeze, turned over a 12-foot leader, and stayed high and dry through the day. The lines have a welded loop on the front end, and use RIO’s AgentX Technology for an overall higher-floating line. Unlike most of RIO’s premium lines, Avid lines do not have a welded rear loop, and do not have RIO’s Extreme Slickness Technology or Super Flotation Technology, which is basically a double coating of AgentX on the front tip.
