The White--A 4-Season River - Comments
With all do respect to Mr Witlock. Allot that was said about the white is all wrong. The white are mostly hatchery fish. Many area's & times if water isn't generatting the river can not sustain itself. This is because they rely on the army corp of engineers to keep water runing. Without that the river cann't sustain a trout fishery. Only about 10% of the fish are wild. I am a catch & release guy. But if you fillet white river trout you'll see the difference in color of meat on the fish. The hardcore white river guy's don't like this. That's because they try to pass a lie off about the white being a natural fishery. The truth is in the fillet Those dams are nothing but life support for hatchery fish. Why am i negative about the white. Because the river was destroyed to make artifical lakes & dams. 100 yrs ago the white was the best small mouth bass fishery in the world. I would rather see that hatchery fish project & them lakes destroyed. I would rather see white the way that it once was then what it is now a big joke. We tare dams down all the time to restore trout & slamon. Why not small mouth bass on the white river.
